H.O.P.E. Animal Foundation (Halt Overpopulation with Prevention and Education) was founded in 1998 in response to the growing concern over the vast numbers of dogs, cats, puppies and kittens put to death in shelters every day. In fact, California spends over $250 million each year to care for over 1 million unwanted and abandoned pets. Sadly, more than half of those animals are ultimately euthanized.
H.O.P.E. decided to build a clinic rather than a shelter because spay and neuter plays a key role in reducing pet overpopulation and, in turn, saving the lives of animals.
The state of the art H.O.P.E. Clinic is the largest in the Central Valley. Since our grand opening in June of 2006, we have altered over 200,000 dogs and cats. We work with over a dozen local agencies to spay and neuter dogs all over the Central Valley through regular transports. In addition, through the media and community outreach, we work to educate the public to be responsible pet owners.
Our mission is to help control the unwanted pet population through spaying and neutering, not killing, and to decrease the number of abandoned, injured, and abused dogs and cats through prevention and education. It is the Foundation’s belief that through prevention (spay and neuter) and public education, we can save lives.

Due to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID - 19) pandemic, we unfortunately have to close operations for the next two weeks. While this was not an easy decision because we service hundreds of humans and animals daily, we have a social responsibility to prioritize the health of our employees, customers and community at large. As of now, the plan is to close until April 1st, 2020. Spay, neuter and vaccine clinic will be closed starting tomorrow, 3/19. Wellness veterinary services will remain open 3/19-3/21/2020.
Please note that if you need medication refills, food, etc. you have until 3/21. After 3/21/2020, we will be closed until April 1st.
If you have an existing appointment within the next two weeks, you will be contacted to discuss options.
We are all in this together. We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation and will follow guidance from public health officials and government agencies, so we can continue to support our customers and communities as needed.
For more information about COVD-19 and what you can do to keep healthy and safe, visit the Centers for Disease Control at cdc.gov or your local health department's website.
